Upfield Donates Safety Materials to University of Environment Ghana

Accra, Ghana. May 11, 2021. Upfield Foods, the largest plant-based foods company in the world, has made donations of COVID-19 Personal Protective Equipment and safety materials to the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) in Eastern Ghana.

 

The company revealed that the donation was in a bid to continue to support the Government’s efforts aimed at curtailing the spread of Covid-19 especially in the wake of the second and third waves of the pandemic emerging around the globe. The company had earlier donated its nutritious, great tasting Blue Band products to the Government’s initiative providing for vulnerable communities staying at home to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

The Personal Protective Equipment and safety materials donated to the University include hand sanitizers, sanitizer dispensers, disinfectant wipes, liquid soaps, face masks, veronica buckets, protective examination gloves and tissue papers.

 

Speaking during the presentation, Paul Dowuona, Country Head of Sales, Upfield Ghana noted that the company has and will continue to ensure its supports to various stakeholders in the country by contributing to solutions that improve the communities where Upfield operates.

 

“Upfield recognizes the efforts being made by various stakeholders, especially the Government, to curb the impact of Covid-19 pandemic and ensure the safety of Ghanaians. As a responsible corporate citizen, we will continue to align with this effort by doing our very best to support the communities where we operate, which has informed this donation to the University”, he noted.

 

In appreciation of the kind gesture from the foremost manufacturer of plant-based foods, Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson, Vice-Chancellor, University of Environment and Sustainable Development, Ghana (UESD) said the donations were timely and showed how Upfield is contributing to proffering sustainable solutions to reducing the incidence of Covid-19 in its host communities.
